CfSA are delighted that Ian Ritchie CBE RA has accepted our invitation to become a Patron.
In 1981 he launched his architectural practice in London and his design engineering firm Rice Francis Ritchie (RFR) in Paris. These practices have been responsible for many prestigious projects in the UK and internationally - to name just a few: Louvre Pyramids and Sculpture courts, (with I M Pei); Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía Madrid; Leipzig Glass Hall; Crystal Palace Concert Platform; Spire of Dublin; Royal Academy of Music’s Susie Sainsbury Theatre and Angela Burgess Recital Hall, Royal Shakespeare Company Courtyard Theatre and TOP and the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre at UCL. His architectural practice has received over 100 UK and International awards – including several for innovation. Ian is an academic having been elected Professor of Architecture at the Royal Academy Schools, and is currently Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Liverpool and a member of Milan Polytechnic’s academic board. He is also an elected honorary fellow of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Academy of Engineering, and elected to the German Arts Academy in Berlin and to the Natural Science Club at UCL. In 1997 his practice settled in Limehouse near where he has lived since 1978. Ian is also a writer, poet and artist, and an enthusiastic supporter of Heritage projects and Liverpool FC.
